Texada island
Texada Island is the largest of the Gulf Islands (except Vancouver Island) and is situated between Powell River on the mainland, and Comox on Vancouver Island. It is well served by BC Ferries (car ferry) to and from Powell River. The population of this large island is about 1200 people year round, with more in the summer. Texada gets more hours of sunshine and less rain than either Powell River or Comox – it definitely deserves its designation as the most northerly part of the Sunshine Coast! Winters are generally mild, but winter storms can be spectacular, especially with unimpeded ocean view!
